As a kid summer never seemed to end and the memories made were vivid. Today’s Daily Dose 100 word story is entitled Railroad Flares, Enjoy!
Railroad Flares
Ellen came over with sparklers and cookies for our 4th of July celebration. My parents added 3 railroad flares and some lemonade to the mix, then made themselves scarce.
For most of the evening it was just the two of us standing around our shoulders touching watching the flares burn in the driveway or running in circles with the sparklers..
We played tag while the fireworks exploded across the river. Any excuse for contact was good with us. For those couple of hours Ellen and I were the only ones alive.
It was not till Christmas that we kissed.
